Makeup Review: KIKO Nail Polishes/Lacquers!!

Hello Lovelies, I am going to admit now before you continue reading that this blog is going to be quite long and will contain quite a few pictures as I am reviewing my KIKO Nail Polishes as a collection rather than separately. Now, I must admit... I might have too many nail polishes. What am I saying?! Is that even possible? Although I must have every colour possible now AND every brand possible! I am not going to link all of the nail polishes as they are all from the same company so I have left a clickable link to KIKO's website at the top of the blog post. F.Y.I. I am going to do reviews of other nail polish brands in the future:)

The first KIKO nail polish I have in my collection is the Nail Lacquer in 310 - Golden Orange. I bought this nail polish last year in Spain and it was one of the first KIKO nail polishes I had purchased. My main reason for buying it was the colour as it is perfect for summer, it looks like the sun is sat on your nails! (hmm..). Also, I'm not sure if you can tell from the photograph but there is also a slight shimmer to the polish, which looks great when you are wearing it. I would recommend this shade as it is more pigmented than some of the other shades and therefore only one coat is necessary. The brushes in the KIKO nail polishes are also a lot softer than some other brands which allows for a smoother finish. All of the nail polishes shown are very quick drying, which is useful for those such as myself who just can't be bothered waiting for nail polish to dry (I usually end up rubbing it all over something of course:))

The next shade I have is the Nail Lacquer in 221 - Light Satin Beige. This is a more nude/neutral shade and I tend to wear this a lot for meetings, job interviews, etc. It is also an acceptable colour if you're only allowed pale nail polish at work. I must admit though, this shade seems a lot darker in the bottle than it is on your nails and to achieve the colour in the bottle you have to do a few applications.

The next shade I have is Nail Lacquer 314 - Cyclamen. This is a pink nail polish with purple undertones I believe, however once applied to the nail it comes across quite a bright pink. The purple tones are still there but they're not as clear as they are when it is in the bottle. However, I do adore this colour and I usually wear it with plain coloured clothing to make my nails the main focus...they adore the spotlight:)

The next shade is Nail Lacquer in 216 - Satin Pastel Pink. This shade is similar to the 221 - Light Satin Beige as it is a very pale colour and is therefore acceptable for things like interviews. The pink provides a hint of colour however to strengthen the colour you can just apply a few more coats.

This next nail polish has to be my favourite, in fact I am actually wearing it in the photographs on this blog post. This is from the Sugar Mat Collection which unfortunately was a limited edition and has therefore been discontinued. I will keep my eyes peeled for any dupes as I love this polish myself and would love to purchase something similar. The Sugar Mat effect leaves a sort of rough effect once the nail polish dries, however the colour pigments brilliantly and they always look neat and pretty.

Next up is the Nail Lacquer in 337 - Periwinkle Violet. Again, I adore this colour, however I also like the fact that this is a little different to the other polishes as it has a slightly matte effect due to the fact that there is no shimmer like there is in most of the others.

The next nail polish is Nail Lacquer in 228 - Sparkle Touch Transparent Microglitter. This polish is perfect if you are going for a very minimalistic look or even as a top coat for one of the other polishes, in fact that's what I use it for most of the time. This is because on it's own it looks slightly pointless as it is a ''barely there'' colour.

Next up is the Magnetic Nail Lacquer in 705 - Emerald Turquoise. The magnetic edition is still available online...yay! I forgot to include a photograph of the nail art magnet which you should purchase with this polish. The nail polish reacts to the nail art magnet and you can make stunning patterns on your nails. I find this is such an easy but clever idea for accent nails. The end result gives your nails a matte metallic look.

This next one is another limited edition, it is the Mirror Nail Lacquer in 618. I haven't actually had that much experience with this one as I have only used it twice in the time that I have had it.

And last but not least we have the Nail Lacquer in 235 - Pearly Orange. This colour is very similar to the 310 - Golden Orange, except that this one has swirls of other orange tones in it, which shows on the nails and gives a fantastic effect.

I feel like my last two blog posts have just been so incredibly long and hopefully my next one will be slightly shorter, since not everyone has like 6 years just to read one blog post:) If you have any questions or any suggestions on good dupes of the limited edition KIKO Nail Polishes, please let me know, I love hearing from you guys:) Thanks for reading....

Mini Drugstore Beauty and Makeup Haul!

Hi guys so today I decided to do a little haul for you, as I had a quick look in Boots and Bodycare whilst I was out and picked up a couple of things:) So let's dig in!!

The first thing I purchased from Boots was the Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil in Vintage Blush. One thing I noticed about this when swatching it in the store was that; once applied it sticks and therefore it wouldn't be a suitable eyeshadow pencil for blending, however I was just a sucker for the beautiful colour and also how pigmented it was!:)

The next thing I bought was the Collection Work The Colour Lip Butter in Perfect Plum. I have a slight obsession with lip butters and this is one that has been recommended by so many bloggers that I just thought hmm...I need it!!

Next up is the Natural Collection Lip Lines in Cinnamon. Now this may seem a slightly odd colour to choose, however I have been informed that it will work well with many of my deep purple, red wine coloured lipsticks, so for the budget price tag I thought it would be worth a go. F.Y.I. I couldn't find this on Boots online however they were still in store when I went today so I'm not sure what's going on there sorry:(

The next item that caught my eye was the Seventeen Stay Time Long Wear Primer. The reason it caught my eye was because I had literally just this morning been reading reviews for different primers as I'm not a big fan of the W7 one I am currently using and lots of bloggers had been raving about this one for a purse friendly option.

Now I must admit here, this was a very random buy, it is the Witch Naturally Clear Anti-Blemish Tinted Moisturiser in Dark. As I was walking to the checkout in Bodycare this was on the shelf in front of me and the first thing that attracted me to it was the brand, because Witch Naturally Clear have some amazing face washes and cleansers etc. for during breakouts. Also, the best thing about tinted moisturiser is that it means you don't have to wear foundation, which is a great idea during a breakout. So I just had to buy it. Had to. I need this in my life.

Next up is the Rimmel London Hide the Blemish Concealer in Natural Beige. The reason for purchasing this is simple really; I ran out of my Natural Collection concealer and decided to purchase a different brand to see which I prefer:)

Yay!!! New lipstick! I purchased the Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipstick in Roasted Red. I have tried this lipstick when I got home and it isn't very pigmented at all and you have to use a lot of product to achieve the colour shown in the picture, however apart from that it is lovely!! In the swatch below you will see I have done one swatch with one layer and another swatch with 3 layers, the difference it quite obvious I think.

And last but not least, another random buy was the Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. This is a dupe of the real Argan Oil products and was by far a lot cheaper. I only purchased the travel size as I have never tried them before, so I'm just going to see how it goes!! F.Y.I. I have never heard of this brand before and only know of Bodycare in the UK who stocks it. Unfortunately Bodycare do not have a website however there are stores in most UK towns.

Now I know this blog post has included a lot of pictures however, I don't feel I can do the products justice without showing you the packaging and swatches. I am also going to be doing more in depth reviews on these products individually once I have tried and tested them, so watch this space!!!

My Blogging Spot&Desk!

Hi Guys, I thought that I would show you all my blogging area/space. This is where I write my blogs as it has got to be the most peaceful part of my house. My favourite part about my desk area is the tree wallpaper lining the inside of the desk, as it gives the feel of nature and relaxation which really helps aid concentration. The desk was already fitted when we moved in and we have just painted it white, therefore I couldn't tell you where it was from. The wallpaper has been discontinued now, however I did a bit of browsing and found a few places you can purchase something similar; Next, Cole and Son, Homebase and Etsy. I also adore the lights around my desk as this provides good lighting and also makes the desk feel like a super cosy area when it's cold or dark.

On my desk I usually have a tub of pens, the pack of 50 Ballpoint pens from Sainsburys, a pack of post it notes, for quick reminders or notes, my notebook for blogging ideas and what to include in the blog posts, my diary, my phone, my camera and of course the blogging essential my laptop!

In the drawer underneath my desk I have paperwork, spare pens, notebooks, more post it notes and other random desk essentials. The drawer is the only thing that keeps my desk clear so I like it being there. Tidy room, tidy mind eh? On the shelves above my desk I have some books, some cute little decor things, a prom photograph and some files and college work.

Quick F.Y.I:
My laptop is the Acer Aspire E5-571
My camera is the Nikon Coolpix L29 Digital Camera

My Favourite... iPhone Apps of the Month!

This month I have had quite a few favourite apps, so I'm going to list 3 of them and tell you what they are about and why I like them. If you like these favourites of the month blogs let me know and I will post some more.

1. MapMyWalk - Recently I have been trying to exercise more and keep myself healthy. This app has been perfect for fitness beginners as it tells you how many calories you use up whilst walking. I use this app when I'm walking the dog and when I'm out with friends walking round the shops etc. This app has also increased my motivation to walk even more and it doing my a lot of good. So this is definitely an app I suggest to someone who wants to keep themselves healthy.

2. 8Tracks - This has literally been the most amazing app in the world. This app has music playlists for every occasion such as exercise, getting ready, parties and yoga. The selection of music is great and it must be my most used app this month. I have used it paired with MapMyWalk, to help keep me motivated when I'm out walking the dog etc.

3. Instagram - This is one of my favourite apps every month. I love Instagram, it is one of my favourite social media sites, apart from this blog. I post new photos every day and it's great way of keeping hold of memories and looking back at my month in photos, which is something I am going to do a blog post about at some point. I can't fault Instagram! My Instagram Username is maddiepluplesxoxo

Let me know if you would like to see more favourites blog posts and what you would like them to focus on.

Pretty Clouds on a Sunny Afternoon...

Today was a pretty uneventful day, I spent a lot of time in the garden thinking of blog posts and creating my bloglovin' account and communicating with other bloggers. Whilst I was out in the garden I was looking at how pretty the clouds were and took some photographs. I decided to do a quick blog post on the clouds, which may seem a little odd, but this is how I spent my day and I just though hm, why not blog about it.

Also, I find that being in the garden helps to inspire me and whilst I was sat there with my coffee, notebook and laptop, I thought of so many more blog post idea for the future. I now have a few pages full of idea and I can't wait to continue posting them if I'm honest.

Like I said in my previous blog post, I am away from home for the weekend and I am just having a relaxed weekend.

My Quick Travel Makeup Bag!

Makeup Travel Bag - River Island - £10

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in Peach Kiss - £2.99
L'Oreal Contour Parfait Lip Liner in Honey - £4.39
KIKO Makeup Milano Smart Lipstick in 909 Cherry Red - £3.90
Bourjois Paris Colour Boost Lip Crayon in On the Beach - £7.99
W7 Big Lash Mascara in Black - £2 - Variable
Max Factor Cr
√®me Puff Powder in Translucent - £5.99
Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in Classic Ivory - £6.99
Natural Collection Cover-up Cream in Fair - £1.99
Avon Glow Shake and Go Bronzer in Medium - £8.99
YKS Beauty Foundation Blender Sponge in Blue - $1.71

Hello everyone, today I decided to do a quick what's in my travel makeup bag, as I am currently staying away from home. This weekend has been a rather lazy weekend and I knew when I was packing that I wouldn't really be going out anywhere apart from to the shops or whatever. Therefore, I decided not to bring to much makeup and I just brought my essentials.  These products shown above are my makeup staples, although I wish I had bought a different mascara as the W7 one tends to clump a lot on my lashes. Apart from that though these are my favourite products in my makeup collection!

A lot of people have recommended that I try the Official Beauty Blender, however I do not know that I could justify spending such an amount of money on a makeup sponge, however I have heard nothing but good things about it. There are a lot of dupes of the Beauty Blender on Amazon, in Superdrug and in Boots and these are far cheaper.

The makeup bag from River Island is the perfect size for little weekend breaks where you don't want to take so much makeup and it fits perfectly in your handbag, therefore I use it when I go to work or college and need to take a few essentials with me. Also it isn't too expensive at only £10.

Starting a Youtube Channel...Yikes!

So I'm not sure how well this is going to go down, but I'm starting a Youtube Channel and you have no idea how scared I am. I don't have a lot of confidence so this is a big step for me, but I have decided that this year will be my year and I'm going to do things I have previously been too scared to do. I need to buy a new camera if I'm going to start a Youtube Channel as mine is completely broken as I have had it for about 6 years. If anyone has any tip and advice for me on starting this channel please let me know I would really appreciate it!  I will leave the link to my channel below, I'm not sure when the videos will start but I will keep you posted on here!

Top 5 Favourite Internet Bloggers!

In this blog post I am going to tell you all about my favourite bloggers, most of which you will probably already have heard of, but I'm just going to use this time to rant about how much I love their blogs. I don't know if anyone will be interested in this...but here goes anyway:)

1. Zoella aka Zoe Sugg - Now I must admit Zoe is my favourite blogger I follow her on blogspot and read her blogs and I also follow her Youtube, as her Youtube videos are also absolutely fantastic. Zoe's blogs are brilliant as they are always varied on subject matter, which keeps things interesting. Zoe's blog was the first blog I ever started reading and it was my inspiration to start my own blog, writing is something I have always enjoyed however putting myself out there on the internet was a nerve racking decision to make, but seeing Zoe being able to have that confidence really motivated me. She's a star!:)

2. Sprinkle of Glitter aka Louise - Louise's blog is so lovely and it depicts the typical girl as the colour scheme is mainly pink. The loveliest thing about Louise's blogs is that she includes her daughter Darcy in them and tells us how she is doing which is lovely. Louise is also Zoe's best friend and they film quite a few videos together on Youtube on Zoe's channel and Louise's. Again, it isn't just Louise's blog I love reading, I also love watching her videos and vlogs on Youtube. I do enjoy reading Louise's travel blogs, most recently her trip to Seattle and it's lovely to see pictures as you can see how much they were enjoying themselves.

3. A Model Recommends aka Ruth Crilly - A model recommends is a great blog, as Ruth literally will blog about anything and every time I go on her blog there is always something new to read about and the subject is always different to the last blog that I read. I don't think I could possibly tell you which sort of articles I prefer from Ruth because they are all so brilliant. I must admit I do enjoy reading her health blogs because it isn't really something I see many bloggers doing and she makes the posts so interesting. However, I do love her beauty blogs and nail design tutorials, as I like to hear about other people's experiences/advice.

4. She's Called Claire - This blog isn't one that I had really heard a lot about since a few weeks ago. However in the past few weeks I think I have literally read all of her blog posts because she is literally just brilliant. Her craft and recipe blog post are so inspiring, they just make me want to get into the kitchen and start cooking or making homemade crafts. Also these blogs are the perfect thing to read in the mornings when I'm sat at the table in the kitchen having my morning coffee, while I plan my day. It's just the perfect blog and I urge you to go check it out!!!
5. A Passion for Homes - Now this blog may seem a little different to all of the others I have talked about. However, I have an obsession with thinking about how I am going to design my house when I am older and I have been this way since I was about 11 which is funny. But this blog is perfect for anyone like me, or for people who have just purchased a house and are looking for tips on how to decorate or make the most of the house and it's space.

Disclaimer - None of these blogs have requested that I mention them in this post, these are my genuine personal views and they have not been affected in any way.

Makeup Review... Maybelline New York Browdrama!

Maybelline New York Browdrama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Dark Brown - £4.99

Hi guys, it's me again! I decided today to do a makeup review as I picked up this bad boy whilst out shopping yesterday and was really unsure as to whether I would like it or not. I am so used to using a brow pencil or brow palette that I thought a brow mascara wouldn't look or feel right. There is nothing particularly descriptive about the packaging and when I first saw the price I was quite impressed. However, Maybelline New York is definitely a brand I would recommend if you are on a budget as it never breaks the bank. It is a drugstore brand and can be found in shops such as Boots and even in supermarkets such as Sainsbury's.

When I first tried the product I didn't like it because it felt sticky and too thick. However once the mascara had dried I felt it left a good colour payoff and did the job of sculpting my eyebrows. It isn't a product I could wear alone though and I had to use my HD Brows Eye and Brow Palette in Vamp to fill in my eyebrows. It is a great makeup staple if you prefer a more natural makeup look, as the effects are quite subtle.

It is also important to ensure that if you have thick eyebrows this product can make them look gappy and to over the top. It is a product more suited to those with thinner eyebrows.  The wand shape is a little difficult to adjust to, however this could be because I have never tried a brow mascara before.

Overall: This product is excellent for it's price and although another product is usually needed over the top if you are looking for strong eyebrows, it still does what it says on the tin.
Rating: 8/10

Thanks guys let me know if you like the makeup reviews and I will be sure to do some more.

Let's talk about...Relationships!

Let's talk about relationships, because whether they are healthy or not, bad or good, it's always good to talk about it. It's always good to hear from someone with experience and listen to any advice or tips they might that's what I'm hear to do. Just call me your favourite agony aunt.

Just a quick note - If you find yourself in a hurtful or abusive relationship please seek out professional help because although I'm here to talk, I am in no way qualified to help out professionally.

In every relationship, the most important thing is trust and it either makes or breaks a relationship. Therefore you should be honest with your significant other and you should believe that they are honest with you. A good solution to building up trust is to communicate your concerns with your partner and come up with solutions. In one of my previous relationships, I didn't take this advice and we were constantly checking up on each other, there was no trust and no matter how much we wanted to make it work, we couldn't. I'm not saying that trust can't be built, but we had just let it go to far. However, our relationship was quite unhealthy anyway even without the trust issues.

Another important aspect in any relationship is having time to yourself as well as with your partner. It is never a good thing to spend too much time with each other, as arguments can bubble over and get worse. It is important to have me - time, to pamper yourselves and to spend time with your friends and family too.

It is always necessary to have boundaries and to ensure that these are properly followed and that your partner listens to you and respects your wishes. Understanding each other's personal boundaries is important if you wish to have a healthy relationship.

In some relationships, again from my own personal experience, I know that it isn't always your romantic partner causing the problems. Sometimes it can be other people who just seem to forget that a relationship is only between two people. If you find yourself in a similar situation take these quick tips and hopefully things will sort themselves out.

1. If this ''extra person'' is in your life then cut them out because they can't be that significant if they can do something like this to you.
2. Keep positive, once the person is gone you can improve your relationship
3. If your boyfriend or other half cheated on you with this person you can either give him a second chance or leave him. I would suggest you leave him as you will feel much better for it.
4. Forget about the other person, don't let them ruin your relationship if they are no longer in the picture.
5. Bond with your other half to help each other through the rough patch.

Never forget to be yourself, you can live without them if that's what is necessary. You are your own person and you shouldn't let a relationship define you.

Never forget to talk to your friends or family, they will always be there for you!

What to do about...Bad Breakouts?!

Bad Breakout?!

Hello! It's MaddieDarling and I have decided, for my first ever blog post, to write about what to do when you get the dreaded breakout of spots!! The reason for this is because I couldn't decide on a subject to discuss first and as I am personally having the worst of breakouts at the minute, what better to talk about. I must admit although I am not claiming to be a skincare professional in any way, I do believe due to the amount of experience I have had with breakouts, that I will be able to provide some good advice.

First things first, the worst bit about a spot is the nagging pain you have before the spot comes up, when the area around it is all red and sore. This is the worst stage because there isn't really a lot to do. The one thing I would recommend it not to touch the area with your hands or mess with the spot, as this will just make it even more sore, more red and will make it take even longer to heal.

When you are having a bad breakout, or even a small breakout, steer clear of any skincare products which have too many harsh chemicals in them and also steer clear of any products which you know make your skin oily or greasy. Also, once your spot has appeared and revealed it's true ugly self, I urge you not to pick or squeeze it, as this can cause permanent or long lasting damage to your skin, which is never a good thing, it just means you would have to cover up with more concealer.

Before the spot appears,  I like to use LUSH Grease Lightning Tea Tree spot treatment, which is the most effective spot treatment I have ever used. Once you have applied the gel, you should then leave it to dry, which admittedly takes quite a while depending on the amount of product you use. The gel will then dry up those nasty blighters and make them disappear. YAY!! This treatment works for me when applied once a day for about three days, however this may be different for others. Also, I believe this product prevents further breakouts, although LUSH don't claim this to be true, it is just something I have noticed from personal experience. Another spot treatment gel which is slightly less expensive but works just as well is the Avon Clearskin Emergency Instant spot treatment. This treatment works in exactly the same way as the LUSH Grease Lightning, it dries once applied to the skin and helps to make the spot disappear.

Another important thing to do during a breakout, is to ensure your skin is clean all the time. I believe it is a sin to let my skin get dirty anyway:). However, during a breakout your skin can sometime become more oily and more greasy and therefore, your pores are more likely to get blocked...leading to more nasty spots:(. I like to use a facial wash morning and night, usually Simple's Kind to Skin Moisturising Facial Wash as this doesn't contain any harsh chemicals and it is the most effective facial wash for my skin type during a breakout.

These are just a few of my tips for dealing with a bad breakout, I hope you enjoyed it and I have linked the products in case any of you need them yourselves.

Thanks for reading,
